Spotlight on Kirk Kara: Forever Captivating
April 15th, 2020
One of our favorite designers of luxury bridal jewelry, Kirk Kara, handcrafts each of their engagement rings and wedding bands with a particular bride in mind. This bride is one who forgoes cookie cutter designs, opting instead for unique, statement-making jewelry. She is a modern traditionalist who chooses a ring that is both timeless and distinctive. If this vision mirrors your tastes, or the taste of the one you love, Kirk Kara has the perfect collection of bridal jewelry to match.
The Origins of Kirk Kara
The history of designer, Kirk Kara, is a long and storied one. It began in 1890, when the grandfather of Kirk Kara's founder opened a small workshop in Armenia to showcase his exquisite, hand-engraved jewelry. Sadly, he ultimately lost his life in the Armenian Genocide, though his son, Artin, escaped alone and opened a new workshop in Beirut, Lebanon. Here, he honed his extraordinary talents and incredibly sophisticated manufacturing techniques, which, in time, were soon passed to his son, Kirk.
Although Artin's workshop in Beirut would endure hardships as civil war broke out in Lebanon, both him and his son, Kirk, continued their passion for creating unique, fine jewelry. Kirk worked diligently beside his father, learning the intricacies of great jewelry craftsmanship. The family eventually moved to The United States in the 1980's in order to begin anew, while remaining dedicated to the artistry of their work.
Kirk and his wife, Lucy, would go on to have their own children, Angela and Grace, who, much like their father, and his father before him, grew up learning the art of fine jewelry craftsmanship. Together, they bring a modern woman's intuition and perspective to the Kirk Kara brand. Today, Angela and Grace are at the helm of the business and are committed to continuing their family's gracious, generous spirit and relentless pursuit of perfection.
