Meghan & Al: The San Diego Story

The Beginning:
Meghan and Al always knew each other as kids but officially met through a mutual friend their sophomore year of high school. They began dating soon after but unlike most high school relationships, Meghan and Al's was one to last. Meghan says that she knew early on Al was the one as they went on to experience so many milestones together- high school, college, jobs, and everything in between for the past ten years.
The Perfect Proposal, According to Meghan:
"We got engaged on a trip to San Diego in July at Balboa Park. Before the trip I thought I saw it coming - I knew this would happen eventually - but he threw me off because the trip was nearly over. He waited until the very end of the trip, which definitely took me by surprise.
Al is a photographer and has a really nice camera, which he likes to bring everywhere. We had some dinner reservations with our friends that night, so we took it as a good opportunity to get some nice pictures. Everyone was taking turns having their photos taken at the park, but when it was our turn to be in front of the camera, Al had something else planned.
When we started dating at age fifteen, Al said at the time he assumed that it would be just a two week stint, like everyone else their age. After a short time he realized he wanted to spend the rest of his life with me. As we were taking pictures, he got down on one knee and asked me to marry him, and of course I said yes! I was so happy and I tried not to cry- I hate crying in public. I was just so excited and shocked! I couldn't stop staring at my ring throughout dinner.
To make sure it was a surprise, Al only told my parents, his parents, his best friend, and his sister. He didn't tell my siblings or most of our friends because he was afraid they wouldn't be able to keep it a secret! Everyone who knew was very good about hiding it from me and no one let anything slip- Al didn't even look at the ring once after he picked it up to be extra careful. I had waited almost ten years for this moment and I couldn't be happier to be engaged to the love of my life!
The ring:
Al chose an Gerald Peters Collection ring in 18kt white gold diamond band with a round center stone. Meghan said it was the perfect ring for her and was the perfect fit. When Al came in for the ring, he put his complete trust in Angela, who made sure he chose a ring that Meghan would love.
The future:
Meghan is a teacher so after the proposal she took advantage of the free time in the summer and got straight to planning before school started again. Meghan and Al plan to get married July 15th, 2017 on the beach in LBI, with the reception nearby. Being a photographer himself, Al has already contributed to the plans with his photography connections to ensure their special day will be perfectly captured, just as their special proposal was.
